Substance Use
Disorder Treatment

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

HPWC utilizes a variety of resources to recommend a level of care to best work to address substance use problems.  This is based on the recommendation from the assessment and will take a variety of factors into consideration:  severity of problems, resiliency factors, existing recovery skills, scheduling, and community support systems. Some people have mandates that are inflexible, such as from a court order, and we work hard to collaborate with referents to develop a plan to meet everyone’s needs.

Information about our substance use programs

LEVEL ONE OUTPATIENT

Level One Outpatient Services can include up to 9 hours of treatment activities per week, but most people attend one to three groups per week and regular individual sessions throughout the month.  The groups are psycho-educational and evidence-based, meaning they have both educational dynamics and time to discuss and apply the information on a more personal level.  Groups are facilitated by certified Substance Use Disorder Counselors who are invested in helping each person meet their individual goals by understanding barriers to growth and teaching skills relevant to the recovery process.

Level Two Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

IOP Services generally include over 9 hours of treatment activities per week, typically with several groups, an individual session per week with a certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor, and a weekly session with a peer mentor.  These groups often have some of the same members and develop support for ongoing recovery.  These groups tend to address individual barriers to growth and process information on more personal level.  Community resources and supports are shared at this level to strengthen the foundation of a recovery process.

co-occurring needs

Many individuals seeking substance use treatment have other problems impacting their recovery, such as past trauma, mental health diagnosis, or family issues.  HPWC employs a variety of experienced mental health therapists to provide each participant with the amount of support they need to improve their lives, according to their personal goals and objectives.

peer mentoring services

HPWC provides additional support through peer mentor services.  Peers offer role modeling through lived experiences, connection to a different types of community support groups, and assistance in meeting practical needs.   Each peer is supervised through the SUD program and works in collaboration with the SUD counselors.
